Days of wonder

Now that it's over and I'm about ready to fly back home, looking back on the whole trip, it's beginning to slowly sink in.

I've seen more than I had ever hoped to see. I have heard lions roar in the wild. I have seen sharks swim serenely by a meter away. I have stood on a beach where a river meets the ocean and felt the heat of one water meet the cold of another. I have stood on the top of a mountain and seen the world fall away all the way into the sea. I drove to the edge of the horizon and then beyond. Over and over again :).

One of these days I will sit down and remember all the other incredible things from these last sixteen days.

Feeling: overwhelmed :)

Havoc and bright lights

It's a little scary how much has happened in the last couple of weeks. The vessel sailed from Durban to the west, past Cape Town. We crew changed a few crazy days later and washed up on the shore of Cape Town. Which is where the vacation started.

Scuba diving in False Bay. A crazy road trip from Cape Town along the Garden Route via some spectacular roads and stops along the way. A completely impromptu day spent in Haga Haga. (Yeah, you'll have to look it up, the shelly beach of the Wild Coast, the sign said. We got lost several times just trying to get there. But once we did, we really didn't want to leave :).) Yet more scuba diving, this time at the Aliwal Shoal. And now we are back in Durban again!

But that's not all. There's still another six days to go. Who knows what else might happen.

Currently: a little overwhelmed

It's all downhill from here

And that is a good thing! Some days things just stop rushing around in your head. Even if for just a little bit. It is usually a good idea to make the most of these moments. Especially when over a month or so such moments have appeared rarely, if at all :).

God am I ready to be out of dock or what?! Even though there's the better part of a week before crew-change, the mere act of setting sail would be a relief. No cutting or grinding jarring you awake at odd hours for one thing!

For a short trip, this has been a really long one :(. But the upcoming break seems to be promising. Some of us are planning on staying back for a little while in South Africa. The sheer scope of the intended vacation kinda boggles my mind a little bit. So all I'm doing at this point is crossing my fingers and hoping that this one doesn't run into any last minute glitches. It really promises to be awesome :D.

Currently: into no-mores!
